Cole Stockton: Salford City

Striker Cole Stockton joined The Ammies in the summer having signed from Burton Albion on a two-year deal. The man from Merseyside is known to be a prolific goalscorer having found the net 54 times in 150 league appearances.

Having spent four seasons making a name for himself at Morecambe, the standout was back in 2021/22 where he scored 23 goals and provided 4 assists in 44 appearances as well as achieving promotion with the Lancashire side.

The 30-year-old has certainly been a journeyman throughout the EFL, most recently spending a season-long loan at fellow League Two outfit Barrow, where he scored 7 times in the league. Despite goals being hard to come by for The Ammies so far this campaign, Stockton’s start to life in the red of Salford has been bright having been called upon to be the main talisman for the club.

Joel Colwill: Cheltenham Town

20-year-old Joel Colwill has made a fast start to life in the red and white of Cheltenham after trading it for the blue of Cardiff City in the summer. The Bluebirds academy graduate was at the club since he was six and made his first senior appearance last August in the Carabao Cup. Colwill also made two appearances in the Championship for Cardiff and also played on the international stage for Wales Under 21’s.

Since joining for The Robins, the midfielder has been prolific in the final third with 3 goals and 3 assists to his name in 17 league appearances this season, as well as a standout performance in the FA Cup second round against Rotherham where he grabbed himself a brace to set up a tie with Salford City.

After featuring in every league match except for when on international duty, Colwill has certainly been a key part of Michael Flynn’s side this season.

Omar Bugiel: AFC Wimbledon

Having won The Dons’ Player of the Season award last year Omar Bugiel is one to watch again this campaign especially with more firepower around him with the likes of Joe Pigott, Mathew Stevens, and Josh Kelly.

With 18 goal contributions in 41 league appearances in the 2023/24 season, Bugiel is renowned for being potent in and around the box. The Lebanese international made his move to Plough Lane from Sutton United in June 2023, and after impressing in his first season, the forward extended his contact for a further two years back in April.

The 30-year-old has a steady start for The Dons this season with contributing to 5 goals in 13 matches, including a fine display in the first round of the FA Cup against bitter rivals Milton Keynes Dons, where he provided an assist for Mathew Stevens’ opener and found the net himself early in the second half.

Nathan Lowe: Walsall

Exciting young forward Nathan Lowe has made an impressive start to life in a Walsall shirt after signing on a season-long loan deal from Stoke City in the summer. The 19-year-old came through the championship side’s academy and played 17 times before making the move to The Saddlers.

Having already netted 7 times in the league as well as having 3 assists to his name, Lowe has certainly been one to watch settling into League Two with ease. The striker also picked up the EFL Young Player of the Month award in October for scoring in victories over Grimsby Town and Carlisle United and notching a brace against the in-form Chesterfield.

His goals so far have made him a key element of the Walsall side who aspire for promotion to League One.

Lyle Taylor: Colchester United

With five goals this season, Lyle Taylor joined Colchester United on a one-year deal in the summer of 2024, arriving from League One’s Cambridge United.

Taylor began at Millwall but moved to Concord Rangers in 2009. Standout performances here earned him a transfer to AFC Bournemouth, where loan spells at Lewes, Woking, and Hereford followed.

Taylor settled into his career at fellow League Two side AFC Wimbledon in 2015, scoring 55 goals in 150 games. Subsequently he has been known for being prolific in front of goal as his 22 league goals at Charlton Athletic in 2018/19 helped secure promotion to the Championship.

The Montserrat international has been a journeyman throughout the EFL as spells at Nottingham Forest, Birmingham City, Wycombe Wanderers, and Cambridge United preceded his Colchester move. Taylor boasts over 500 senior appearances and 195 goals. In addition to his club career, Taylor has represented his national team eighteen times and netted twelve goals.
