My name is Ellis Hendry

After finishing a degree in Sports Journalism at Leeds Beckett University, for the last three years I have been exploring the world of sports media including videography, photography and much more.

Whilst undergoing my studies as a full-time student, I earnt myself a work placement at Harrogate Town AFC for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons where I've had some memorable experiences, the highlight being given the opportunity to be a pitchside videographer on their FA Cup clash with Leeds United at Elland Road

With my website I aim to share with you my journey as an aspiring sports journalist and my experiences along the way!

What an unbelievable experience! 🏆

Never would I have thought that in my third year of Sports Journalism I’d get the opportunity to report on a game at a stadium like Elland Road

Especially for a club like @harrogatetownafc who have allowed me to be in the position I am for which I am very grateful. On the day I was doing some pitchside videography as well as leading the Instagram story 📱

As for the game itself, unfortunately the underdog story couldn’t be written however for the Championship side to only come away with a 1-0 win, everyone involved at Harrogate Town can hold their heads high 🟡⚫️

Post match interview ⭐️

I spoke with @harrogatetownwomen skipper Ellie Hall after their 2-1 defeat to @wakefieldafcwomen

I asked her about how playing at a stadium and a bigger sized pitch to what the Harrogate team are used to, how did this affect their play-style and her personal performance. 🟡

As well as this, pulling a goal back in the last knockings of the game to make the score 2-1, did this give the team hope to go on and grab the equaliser? ⚽️

Continuing my work experience with @harrogatetownafc I was in Wakefield today running the Instagram and Twitter pages for @harrogatetownwomen for their fixture against @wakefieldafcwomen

Great to gain further experience doing this on a consistent basis this year ⚽️🟡

Wakefield came away with the points in a narrow 2-1 win. Harrogate pulled a goal back in the 75th minute but couldn’t find the equaliser in the end. 🟡

Man of the Match - Anthony O’Connor ⭐️

Have a listen to my post match interview with @harrogatetownafc Centre back Anthony O’Connor.

He grabbed a winner with a curling effort into the top left corner from the edge of the box to give Harrogate a narrow 2-1 win at home to Nottingham Forest U21’s. 🟡

I asked him about his general thoughts of the game having got off to a winning start in the @efl trophy. His wonderful strike which was the decisive moment in the game, and also what we can expect to see from harrogate at the weekend where they will face an in-form @gfcofficial side away from home who currently sit third in League 2.

It was great to be back at the EnviroVent Stadium to see Harrogate Town take on Nottingham Forest U21’s in the EFL trophy and come away with a well deserved 2-1 victory 💪

Some experienced players were at tonight’s game such as @calteck10 and @felipe.augusto as well as Forest boss Steve Cooper. 🌳

I will be working closely with the club this year as a part of their media team gaining experience by mainly covering the academy and women’s teams but also the first team.

Looking forward to getting back into the swing of things as a sports journalist this year and can’t wait to start my journey with @harrogatetownafc 🟡
